This week was an intense course of purely riding uphill. It was a challenge for Blake but he gave it his best shot and that’s all I ask for. We ended up powering up the fire trail towards track 6 and track 7. This hill is quite steep and it took me a while before i could ride up it properly.

Blake gave it his best shot. He had to walk up the steepest bit which is at the start but the going up the gradual gradient hill, he managed to tackle it. I think he needs to focus on his gearing as at some times he had a high gear which would have made it awfully hard to ride uphill. Blake should be sore in his quads and his calves as these are the areas we focused on this week.
I felt like Blake gave it his all going up that hill considering that it is only his second time riding at Bunya. I really think he needs to focus on his selection of gears when tackling a hill or going down a hill. This might be something that I incorporate into next week’s intervention.

I did better than I did in the first week but could definitely improve .
What did you enjoy about this week?
I enjoyed the downhill segments.
What didn’t you enjoy?
Uphill and rooty bits.
What do you want to improve on?
I want to improve my actual leg strength and improve my ability to go uphill.
This week was a very successful week. Considering the improvement from last week, next week is going to be even better than this week because this week was harder, therefore he will have even better agility on the bike. His cardio will have improved as well as his heart rate was increasing while going up the hill.
Changes for next week include increasing Blake’s heart rate. We will focus on endurance with lesser breaks than the usual so that we can get Blake to learn to conserve his energy. Blake will also need to focus on his gearing to ensure that he does not tire himself out at the start of the intervention.
