This week we took Blake down trail 3; the trail that he did in week 1. This was the final decider as to whether Campbell and I had changed a life through this intervention. Blake followed Campbell down the trail while I took photos of him going down. Campbell had the timer for Blake so that he could stop it when Blake reached the top while I followed behind.

Blake did really well and I am so proud of his progress. His time in week 1 for this trail was 15:05. The time it took him to do it this week was 11:30. This is a whole 3 and a half minutes quicker than week 1 which is an astonishing improvement. This shows that the intervention that Campbell and I implemented improved Blake’s physical health.
I felt that Blake went in as hard as he could to try and beat that time and this shows why he improved so much. Another factor that I think helped Blake in his final test was the confidence that he gained from this intervention. He now looks so much more confident on the bike compared to week 1. He knows the trails a lot more as well which gives him that confidence.

I think that I did really well this week given the time I improved by (3:35 seconds)
Do you feel like you have improved since week 1?
I think that I improved dramatically over the 6 weeks given that I had barely done mountain biking before this training.
Do you feel more confident in riding having completed the intervention?
Yes I definitely do, now I Know not to get too worried before I go down a rough trail.
What have you learnt from this intervention?
I have learned how to properly do a track when I’m going downhill I need to keep my feet flat and stand up. I also learned how to go faster in dangerous situations.

This week was the most successful week because it shows that all the hard work that Blake put in to this intervention payed off in the long run. 6 weeks of intervention successfully helped a person change their life. Blake is now more physically active in mountain biking demonstrating this changed life.
Since this is the last week, there will be no changes for next week but we will continue to go on rides together to keep Blake’s fitness on the bike up.
